RCBS Matchmaster transportation deactivation????????

Folks, I am looking at traveling to a four day match and have a RCBS Matchmaster to bring along to load each night. I am wondering if any of you do this and if so, did you have to activate the transportation device on the side of the scale prior to transportation? Then de activate it when ready to use?

Thanks,

Ron Tilley

I had hoped that anyone that does any loading at the range using a Matchmaster would chime in? Anybody??

Thank you!

Their video talks about turning it loose but only the manual mentions re-engaging it for transport or storage.
See pp. 15.

If you have the original packaging, that works to keep the unit safe for the road trip.

I would definitely activate it. Now I have a question for you…

Do you activate it if you put it away, or does always stay on your bench? Also, do you deactivate it when you drain the powder and have to move the scale around?

im just curious as I have one and am paranoid about causing damage to it.

I have never touched it since setting it up the first time. And it never leaves the bench

It is a good policy to follow the OEM instructions when the scale takes a trip, but I don't consider the powder change the same as a trip.
I bought one of these for a friend and gave it a run at home before it made a 1000 mile drive to his place, and we ran it there too. No problems.

Okay that makes total sense. I was just curious because mine started driving ALOT lately and and RCBS is in the process of replacing it for me. I didn’t know if changing the powder had something to do with that being that it’s moved around a little bit.

I love my MM but am a little paranoid because I’ve never had such a sensitive tool before and didn’t know what it can withstand.

I received my by way of the USPS. I figured if it could survive that it could survive me hauling it to the range for SR BR matches..So far so good. I do activate the transportation device every time, 6 months and dozens of trips to the range.
