RCBS ChargeMaster — Anti-Static Fix

I had trouble with it weighing .6 gns heavy and tried just about everything and called RCBS and they said just wipe it down with a dryer sheet, gets rid of static electricity . Dammed if it didn't work, back to loading !!

I always wipe the inside of the powder container before each use. No problems. Wife just saves the used ones from the dryer for me now and then. I also have an anti-static wrist band fastened around the container and connected to earth-ground.

YEs, dryer softener sheet work well.

I wipe mine off weekly with a new dryer sheet. Yesterday it was dropping .1 heavy so I set it .1 lower than I wanted and viola dead on.

I do the powder container periodically also to just keep the powder from clinging to the sides, but I don't see how the container would be responsible for charge weight variation due to static...the scale and hopper are separate units...I don't doubt that some issues aren't static related...just trying to figure what component(s) on the unit would be responsible for static effecting the charge weight. That was my reason for asking what to wipe down...did RCBS specify what to wipe down to take care of the issue.

If you search on here you can find where we figured out you can store a dryer sheet in your hopper and eliminate static issues

I use both dryer sheets and Static Guard spray. Both work well. Need it bad now that the temps are below zero and the humidity is at 10%.
I use the spray right inside my RCBS Uniflow. The liquid evaporates quickly and does not rust the lower unit. I use a lot of BULLSEYE (when I have primers) and without the spray that stuff clings bad.

That is what I do Dusty, just leave one in it when I am through and when I go to use it again, I take that same wipe and wipe it down prior to filling with powder for the reloading session.
Then when through, empty the tube and leave a dryer sheet in it again, for the next time.

Stuff the hopper when not in use. That will fix your problem. Just my two cents Tommy Mc

I reckon I was elated years ago when I found this out.
A USED dryer sheet ... Softer & doesn't have that stickiness.
Stick it in the powder hopper for safe keeping. Wipe out pan also.

That won't do anything for static. It *may* help with line regulation (probably not, depending on your AC power condition, but it also won't hurt anything.)

As an aside, about worst static problem I have with my CM is the little black pan holder. It gets enough of a charge to pull powder granules from the tube.
