RCBS 5-10 vs 10-10 ?

I see shooters coveting the 10-10 scale but other than a bigger base and a "better" ?? elevation Adj. system I can't see any other differences, What are they ??

I have both and the frame is way more rigid and acts like it stops quicker, almost like the magnetic dampening is better.

The only difference with the 10/10 and the 5-10 is the shape and the fact that the 5-10 has not been made for some years now. The 10/10 also has a check weight that can be attached to the bean to extend the range to over 1000gns.

They both use the same beam (interchangeable), the same floating agate bearings/knife edge set-up. The same approach to weight spring system, the same magnetic damper system etc.

The 5-10 is an excellent scale and can often be picked up at a good price.

Here's a couple of 5-10 in action.

Beam Scales should be verified. I have several different beam scales and they are consistent in weighing something just not consistent with each other at measuring the same amount. I used a beam scale for 40+ years then bought an electronic scale. There was a .4 difference in what they said they were throwing with the same volume of powder. I bought a second electronic scale and borrowed a third electronic scale. They were pre adjusted with the weights that came with them. Then The same volume of powder was measured on each of the scales. All measured exactly the same. I now have two RCBS Charge masters set up so speed is not an issue and am very pleased with the results.
