Range Packing Checklist

Jet

Gold $$ Contributor
Son called me and said he forgot a few items when he went to the range yesterday so I sent him my checklist. Figured he and I aren't the only ones who occasionally forget to pack everything we need when we make range trips. Attached is the document I go over twice prior to heading to the range. Use/modify as you see fit.

Thanks for this. Fortunately I have Full Adobe Photoshop Suite, so I can modify a PDF. Watching the guys at Williamsport, I have been toying with the idea of building a Reloading / Shooting Trailer, so everything will be ready to go except the guns and things I would not leave in a trailer even with plenty of dehumidification.

Not exactly a packing list item but as I recently learned:
Double check schedule to make sure the range is not closed for some reason and that you have the right date and time.

OTHER: Socks; Shoes; Underwear; Pants; T-Shirt; Shirt; (Coat & Hat depending on weather); Extra roll of Toilet Paper (just in case what's there is gone or used up); billfold; money; gate pass or key to get into the range;...OH CRAP .....FORGOT THE RIFLE!
Twice now in the last six months, I cleaned the rifle at home and went to the range the next time without the bolt.

I usually keep most of my range "necessities" in a plastic tub with attached flip lid in the bed of my truck that is equipped with a locking cover so it's safe/secure the majority of the time. My tub holds the spotting scope, rugs, various rest bags, etc., so I usually just have to get the gun & ammo I going to shoot that day. I usually don't clean the rifle at the range except for my ARA rig, and then I may. I need to build/make a cleaning kit for it so it's handy to put in the truck when I take it for practice, etc. I've got the cleaning rod in a pvc pipe that I made for safe travels.

Since space in my safe is a bit tight, I store the rifles with the bolts removed. So, remembering the bolt is a big item on my list. Also, 'round these parts, insect repellent needs to be on the list. I've also added a broom if I'm shooting pistol that day. The range brooms have a tendency to get broken or go astray.

Man! I thought I was bad! I have a couple of farms I shoot at. Getting to the point I have so much gear, I spend more time loading and unloading the truck.
I also have toyed with the thought of an enclosed trailer.
