Range Finders

Been out of the loop for a couple years and looking for some advice. I still have my Leica 1600 Rf and it works pretty well. Wondering what some of the best options are currently for ranging non reflective targets like big game, out to over 1,000 yards.
Have never tried RF binos but would certainly consider those too.

I'm still using the Swarovski 1500 RF I have from almost 20 years ago. It serves my purpose well. It will range reflective out to 1900 and I can hit deer and elk out to 1500 with it most days. As long as it will range deer and elk out to 1200, which is my own self imposed shooting limit, I don't need anything else at this point. Plus, the glass in the Swaro allows them to double up and be used as binoculars also which is nice.

They warranty it all--electronics too--others don't for long
Anyway--they work Great! The aiming dot seems large but we used them on PD's last year with success I Love mine and the lifetime warranty on the entire package is the thing that sealed it for me--surprising performance! I had a Leica 1200--loved the tiny aiming dot and precision but having the rangefinder in the binos is the way to go IMO

I bought these last year on Rick's recommendation. I took them to Wyoming for pdog shooting. For the price value they cannot be beat. They are definitely a value above $450. Thanks Rick, I'm well satisfied.

On the other side I've had my hands on the Vortex Fury 5000 RF Binoculars. Last year a buddy that was to shoot with us ended up getting a knee injury just days before we left. We had his gear and he said I could use his Vortex Fury 5000 set if I wanted. I used them on the 2nd and 3rd day. For scanning and acquiring pdogs, getting set up for the shot is definitely easier and faster.

I recommend the Maven RF1 for a rangefinder and the Vortex Fury 5000 for a rangefinder binocular.
Now before we go this year I have to make a decision myself. Do I want to buy the Vortex or just go with the Maven's.

By the way dusterdave sure knows how to use those RF binoculars fast quick and in a hurry....the carnage on the field speaks volumes. Good shooting Dave.

Leica Pro 10x42. If you want RF binoculars. Alpha glass with Applied Ballistics. MSRP is $3399, I found them for $2,850. For the money the Vortex Fury is supposed to be pretty good, it has AB and decent glass.

I second the motion for the Leica Geovid Pro 10X42 Rangefinding binoculars. These are the newest version, and they connect via bluetooth to the Applied Ballistics app or the Kestrel 5700 Elite windmeter/ballistic computer.
I have the older version which does not connect, so I have to put the range into my Kestrel5700 manually by entering it via my iphone, but they are fantastic binoculars.

Highly recommend the combo of the Leica Geovid Pro and the Kestrel 5700 Elite. Everything you need for a first shot hit.

Rick, how bright is the display. My Vortex Crossfire 1400 HD display gets a bit washed out in bright light. And no way that I know of to get it brighter....

I just took it out and aimed it up just under the sun, obviously, it did not give me a yardage reading, but I could see the crosshair and other indicators without a problem. The Maven has an easily adjustable brightness right on the side.

Anyone have the Sig Kilo 6K Range finding binoculars? Was thinking about replacing my Swarovski 1500, and looking at the reviews on these. The glass seems to be better than the 10K. But there seems to be mixed reviews on the ranging capabilities on non reflective, and also with Sigs customer service. Not a bad price if you get a decent set. I'm just not convinced or ready to pull the trigger and replace the Swaros just yet...
