Well, one advantage is that when it's shot out you can use it to smash cement blocks with. Is it true that they are not lighter than s.s.? I assumed that was one advantage. I am impressed with the durability but not sure what that's worth in a target gun.

They are lighter than the same contour.

I had Krieger cut a proof sendero (it ain’t a “sendero”) and it was 3lb heavier.

But if you want the lightest rifle no, that’s just a steel pencil, adding carbon on top of that only adds mass.

They are lighter than a steel barrel of the same contour but no where near as stiff. They are about as stiff as a steel barrel of similar weight. At least the way I measured them which was deflection at the end cantilevered beam.

I have a couple switch barrel set ups with carbon. Have a heavy steel on the gun for most of my shooting and playing around, swap carbon of same size as steel on for hunting
