Raising a lathe height

Here is how this will have to work.

I will saw cut six 6 inch long 5 inch diameter pieces. I will place them secure on a small pallet. You will have to arrange for a pickup so all I have to do is load the pallet on or in a truck. That wilkerp ay out of pocket expenses for you at a minimum.

You are in Houston right? Let me see what I can do. My brother lives in Houston.

How’s about solid cinder blocks? They make 4,6,8 and 12 inch. Not fancy, tho. Usually available at a lumber yard.

A lathe could 'walk off' concrete blocks. Steel 'blocks', or any other solid material that can bear the weight, should be "dimpled" for a place the leveling screws can 'engage', without the fear of "walking off".

Walking off would be bad. Forget my suggestion!

I used pieces of 4" bar approx 4" long. Put a rebate in one end to accept the jacking bolt and then welded 3x 1" square bar "legs" on the outside of each that protrude out the bottom approx 1". That way each spacer is sitting on 3 points of contact and won't rock plus you get extra height and save some bar :-)

Don't have a foot brake. Has an electric clutch and brake system operated by the apron lever. I probably should make something up but effectively all it needs is a switch. Like a micro switch on brake bar or a foot pedal control.
