Ragged Hole Barrels

I got a Wilson blank from urban and it’s giving my Shilens a good run for the money.

This is one of my customers. He lives in Florida. He has been doing quite well this last year shooting Freedom Benchrest matches. He's shooting my barrel with a nut, my Revolution stock, and a Kauger action.

He's shooting against some pretty spendy rigs.

I have a lot more medal pics from him from his wins.

Anyone care to share their experience with this company? Wilson barrels are good varmint/hunting barrels and the price is right.
'Morning Joe. Randy Robinett has fitted and chambered a fair number of the Wilson blanks from Ragged Hole....you might want to give him a call. I'm going to snag one for an upcoming project as soon I can can settle on a caliber. ;)

Hope all is well with 'ya. -Al

Wish they would do some calibers in faster twists like in 17 caliber. I've chambered a few barrels from them, can think of 3 right off the top of my head.

I’ve used maybe a dozen from them. Anymore though, I would talk to them or email them for availability before ordering. Sounds like either they’ve had trouble getting Wilson barrels in OR their back orders are over the amount of incoming barrels. Would be great if the supply started flowing better for them as it was extremely convenient to know they had that kind of selection. Anymore for specific calibers/twist, I call Douglas and have what I need in 1-2 weeks it seems. Never had one of those Wilson’s NOT shoot as well as hoped.

+1 for urbanrifleman barrels. Ive had a couple from him that shot well and plan to buy a prefit from him for a kelbly atlas as soon as my new reamer shows.

Isn't Wilson barrels the company that was or is owned by the former owner of Cooper rifles? If so, why wouldn't they shoot very well? :)

Just make sure you call him before you order. I ordered a number 3 mg gowen blank. Through out the order process it never mentioned anything about being out of stock. After the payment is processed The next day he calls me and says they’ve been waiting on their mg gowen order since February. The whole reason I ordered there is to skip the 9month wait I had with Bartlein last time. Now I’m waiting and they have no clue when barrels will arrive.

I thought he used Green Mountain blanks and Wilson barrels? Am I am missing something or wrong? Wilson makes a good barrel I have some but I have never used a Green Mountain not that I am saying anything bad about them! I can not speak against something I have zero experince with!

I have used a lot of Wilson barrels, untold dozens of AR barrels a quite a few centerfire blanks. I have NEVER EVER had one that didn't shoot great, I have had barrels from about every manufacturer over the years and most were great, I have an old Kreiger that you couldn't buy from me, with that said my Wilsons are as good. Ragged Hole has always treated me good, their main issue is never knowing exactly what they are getting every month. I wanted a #4 x 6.5 but ended up with a LV, to cut weight I fluted it with 8 straight 3/16" flutes and cut it to 20 1/2 in. 6.5 Saum/Gap and just breaking it in and shooting bugholes. I wouldn't be too concerned about fluting a barrel or buying a Wilson.

Thanks for all the information. I am familiar with Wilson barrels since I have had several Cooper rifles over the years and they all shot great. The delivery time sounds like something to consider. I'll be 80 in a couple weeks and every day becomes more and more important as I get older so long waits aren't anything I'd want to deal with. However, at the price of those Wilson blanks it would be tempting to just keep one or two on order while you are actively shooting still.

Your wait time will be minimum if You order from the urbanrifleman.com

Urban how do I get a look at your reamer list? Could you do a barrel with my reamer if the chambering was not on your list?

Here is the reamer list. My phone number is at the bottom of the store page. It might be easier just to give me a call.

I can certainly use your reamer if the bushing is the right size.

Douglas had my 6mm barrel to me in less than a week back in May. I paid for two 6mm McGowan barrels in early Feb and just might have to eat the 15% restocking fee. All he had 2 weeks ago was one 6.5, a few 9.3 and 45.

Douglas from here on out for me.
