I got a Wilson blank from urban and it’s giving my Shilens a good run for the money.
'Morning Joe. Randy Robinett has fitted and chambered a fair number of the Wilson blanks from Ragged Hole....you might want to give him a call. I'm going to snag one for an upcoming project as soon I can can settle on a caliber.Anyone care to share their experience with this company? Wilson barrels are good varmint/hunting barrels and the price is right.
Your wait time will be minimum if You order from the urbanrifleman.comThanks for all the information. I am familiar with Wilson barrels since I have had several Cooper rifles over the years and they all shot great. The delivery time sounds like something to consider. I'll be 80 in a couple weeks and every day becomes more and more important as I get older so long waits aren't anything I'd want to deal with. However, at the price of those Wilson blanks it would be tempting to just keep one or two on order while you are actively shooting still.
Urban how do I get a look at your reamer list? Could you do a barrel with my reamer if the chambering was not on your list?
Urbanrifleman.com I don’t think sells blanks.
Douglas had my 6mm barrel to me in less than a week back in May. I paid for two 6mm McGowan barrels in early Feb and just might have to eat the 15% restocking fee. All he had 2 weeks ago was one 6.5, a few 9.3 and 45.Just make sure you call him before you order. I ordered a number 3 mg gowen blank. Through out the order process it never mentioned anything about being out of stock. After the payment is processed The next day he calls me and says they’ve been waiting on their mg gowen order since February. The whole reason I ordered there is to skip the 9month wait I had with Bartlein last time. Now I’m waiting and they have no clue when barrels will arrive.
Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't a barrel start out as a blank?I don't. Not any more. Too hard to get. Too heavy to stock to maintain the ridiculous inventory you would have to stock. I sell barrels.
