Shot 25 rounds of .284 Shehane with 184 Berger bullets.
There was a noticeable reduction in recoil. Maybe 25%.

I am thinking of either putting a Hydraulic recoil reducing pad on my 300WSM LG for 1000 yard benchrest for next year. I have seen some F-Class guys put the RAD (Recoil Assist Device) on their magnum rifles. I see that their is another called Gracoil that is a little cheaper, but looks like good quality. Anyone got any advice or experience on which one is better for a BR rifle. I will put it on a 17 pound lam. wood ST-1000. I have a muzzle brake and recoil pad already, but after a dozen shots in a row counting sighting in and 5 on target I get pounded to the point I have a head ache and sore shoulder sometimes. Thanks for your time, Samuel Hall
So, how did this work out for you?

I have a Gracoil system on my F class rifle. It also has a Gooey pad on the Gracoil. It was tolerable over the years shooting a .284 in F class from a prone position, but I no longer shoot F class. I tried shooting this rifle from a bench last week (thinking that this might be an option for Heavy gun class in Benchrest), and it was just not an option due to the recoil. So I am now selling my F class rifle.

That will make someone a great rifle. My original post was 5 years ago. That year I put a RAD on my 17 pound LG in 300 WSM and also a VIAS muzzlebrake. All that makes the WSM barely tolerable in LG class at long range benchrest. I am use to BR class rounds.

I have a RAD on my 18 pound 300WSM F-Class rifle. It works very well for me. I had shoulder surgery a couple of years ago and I was a little worried about the recoil, but it has been a pleasant surprise for me.
