I wouldn't waste my time talking to any barrel maker about asking them about ratchet barrels for the same reason I wouldn't waste my time asking any of them about the proper way to break in or clean a barrel. Ask 10 different barrel makers that question and you'll get 10 different answers. I just pointed out in theory what a ratchet barrel is all about and is suppose to do. Whether it works or not who knows for sure.
