R700 Barrel face relief cut

Will it be necessary to cut a relief notch on a 700 breech face when using a M16 extractor?

Thanks,
RK

Not if I'm understanding your question.

We generally cut the bolt nose relief to a larger diameter.

Regards.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. Planning on ordering a 6PPC bolt from PT&G with the M16 extractor cut. Me thinks that all I would need then is to get the M16 extractor kit and install. Am I on the right track?

Yes, with the smaller case head, the extractor won't protrude outside the bolt nose diameter when snapping over the rim of the case. So you will not have to enlarge the counterbore diameter.

Yes pretty much install the extractor in the bolt. You may have to open the boltnose recess. When I did mine the specs called for the recess to be opened. Mine was a .473 bolt face. So PPC may be different.
