R.I.P. Muleman69

It is with deep sorrow that I pass on to this board that Muleman69 (Gary Tickner) passed away . I am still in shock. He was one of my very best friends and a mentor for my entry into the world of precision shooting and reloading. He taught me more than i could of learned in a lifetime on my own. Gary was sent to Viet Nam right out of High School at 18 years old and he always joked that his high school senior trip was to Hanoi. In basic training the instructor noticed that Gary excelled in 600 yard iron site shooting and recommended him for sniper school. Gary was in the really bad shit in Viet Nam as a sniper. Gary survived Viet Nam and a 45 year logging career and packing mules in the mountains of far north California in Siskiyou County all his life. Goddam I'm gonna miss him. :(

So sad to hear this. I never met Gary in person but traded PMs with him on loads and our experiences hunting in the Alps. Prayers sent for you, his family and friends.

Oh Boy, This is a Heartbreaker!
Through his posts you could tell about his love for shooting, hunting, and packing his mules into the high country. You could also hear from him the love he had for his wife, family, and friends. He went with honor to serve our great country and came back with the want to live the American dream. There are some empty trails in the mountains shedding a tear this morning.

One of the curses of growing old is watching friends and family pass away.

I've lost a lot of friends and family and it's not easy moving forward, but you have the memories which cannot be taken away - you'll always those. So, try to focus on those good times you spend with your friend.

I often recall the great hunts I had with my father, uncles and very good friend who is no longer with us. I recall the great times I had shooting on a pistol team in western PA in the 70's and 80's and the great friendships that it forged. Those experiences are priceless.

Unfortunately, all things come to an end, and we will all walk that road someday. But try to do one positive thing each day of your life - something that gives you joy and / or a sense of purpose. This can help.

Take care and best wishes.
