I'm working up a load for my Coyote Killer... 20-250 AI, ( not 22-250..but 20-250 = 20 cal) with 55 gr Bergers... and I'm getting close, but it feels like something is missing... and was wondering if getting into quickloads would make the difference. I've been using H-4350 powder with good groups, but the speed is a tad slower than desired.
38.5 grs makes 5 bullets cluster at 100 yds... but the speed is only 3714 fps.... with CCI 200 primers... with bullets just touching the lands.
41.7 grs has her spitting them out to around 3920 fps average, with 3/8"" groups, but she seems a little hot with hard bolt extraction, and the primer hole has a jagged feel to the finger when rubbed across it.... that's probably not good....LOL.
Anyways... what I'm looking for is a powder that will give me more FPS without higher pressures.
Which is needed... a slower or faster burn rate powder?
I was wondering if Quickloads would have some insight, if I made all the data available to it.
