Question for Ohio Area Shooters

Mark W

I’m looking at relocating from the PA over to South East Licking Ct for work purposes. I’m looking for gun ranges in the area. I’ve done a few searches and didn’t come up with much.

Any info would be appreciated.

The only 1,s I know of are North East of Columbus. Their is Thunder Valley Precision and another that I can not remember the name. They are a couple hours from me and I live outside of Cincinnati. Their is another place out by where I live called Miami pistol and rifle club. It is an excellent place to shoot and they hold many different type matches through out the year. I was a member for many years and gave my membership up as I was moving out of state. Big mistake because when I went back to join they put a membership cap as to how many they will have. I have been on the list for well over 3 years to get back in, good luck ever getting into that place.

Thanks for the input so far! I know about Rayners and Thunder Valley. I’m hoping to find something with a nice short range set up that I can pop in shoot as my schedule allows. I’ll keep my club membership in PA, but it will become a two plus hour drive which is less than convenient.

With that said, I was just outbid on my second home in the area. The real estate market is on fire right now and I refuse to over pay, so I might be waiting a while.

If you want to shoot rifle at 100 to 300 yards, Chippewa Rifle Club is awesome. Tucked away off the main road so it is nice and private. Plenty of concrete benches. They are all under cover. Big area to reload should that suit you. Nice flat terrain. Ideal setup for a precision shooter.

Probably an hour and a half or so from the county you mentioned.

Shelby County Deer Hunters has a beautiful 100-200 yard range. That would be outside of Port Jefferson or East of Sidney, south of Dayton. What distance are you looking to shoot?

Very nice place. WD

Edit, pretty sure that it is north of Dayton.

I live in Newark Ohio. One that has not been mentioned is Dillon sportsman club. Not as nice as Rayners/TVP but is close and allows one to bounce in as their schedule allows

Most of the ODNR shooting ranges should be open now, but are still following coronavirus restrictions; might check their website first.
Also, it’s now easier/cheaper to buy a range pass for those ranges while buying or renewing your Ohio hunting license.
