QUESTION FOR FDSHUSTER,,,re: "CLICK"

I shoot a 'swift' loaded up pretty good. My bolt does not lift hard,,but I get that gawd-awful "CLICK" at the top of the bolt lift. Is pressure the only thing that causes the 'click'? My primers are flat but not excessive,,,I get many reloading from my brass,,,, case stretch is not an issue,,,I keep the case length below specs.

260Ravage: I get the most pronounced "clicking" with my Lapua 220 Russian/ 6ppc brass after it has many loadings, around 20 to 25 when it really gets noticeable. I've done everything possible from pushing the shoulders back as much as .005" to using a small base sizing die (Wilson), but for the most part, while it may lessen a little, it's still there. This is with chamberings on Remington 700 receivers that have been trued. Recently picked up a Bat receiver with Bartlein & Krieger barrels and am anxious to see if the clicking will occur with the same high count brass. It will also happen with Lapua 6BR brass, but not nearly as severe and with a higher number of reloads on the brass. I've come to regard it as an indication of brass that is nearing the end of it's use. May be more of a problem with ctgs. operating at the higher pressures? As you can tell, I don't have a knowledgable answer for the cause and/or cure. It can create the additional problem if the click also includes a hard bolt lift, moving the rifles around in the front & rear bags, when trying to open the bolt, so I do not use these cases for any match's. Maybe someone with more experience with this problem can jump on and help clear up the issue. We can't be the only ones getting the "Click". ???

Preacher: O.K., I understand the possibility, but why does it not do that with the same brass with less than 20 loadings? The problem only shows up on "high time" brass.

Hey guys,,thanks for jumping in here. My rifle in question shoots so well,so i just ignore the 'click'. Preacher: I have heard the term ''out of time'' many times. Can you explain that to me? I am a very novice shooter (and not young) and all ears.
