Question about the NRA National Record Reporting form

Ok Guys,
Ben Steinsholt (aka ShootDots) was extolling Johnny Ingram's 200-30X feat. What he neglected to mention is that he also set 2 new National records during the same match. Ben scored a 200-18X which are new records in both the Senior (over 60 ;)) and Police categories. So congratulation to Ben also on his superb accomplishment.

I am a the Statistical Director of Bayou Rifle and it is my duty to file new records with the NRA. I've only been on the job 3 months and this is the first time I have to submit a NRA National Record Reporting form. The match consisted of 3 relays with 20 shots for record for each relay. Is the Course of Fire 20 or 60 shots? There are 37 different categories for the Section 17 (circled in red), it seems to me that the answer should 17.5 (p) but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone done this before that can offer guidance?

Thanks,

Joe

I think that Bens record was broken at manatee gun club 2 weeks ago with a 200 and19 x by Pat Lundy with a dasher.

All at 300 yards. The Grans Senior record is 200-20X and belongs to Mike McSwain

So to answer your question about listing it as 20 or 60 shots....it would be for 20, each Match, individual, and yes Rule 17.5 (p) would be correct for 20 shots @ 300.

It's been a couple of years since I did paperwork for one of Pat's Records, couldn't remember how old he is.......

Thanks, I appreciate your confirmation. It helps put my mind at ease when a second opinion concurs.

If you can connect with Scott O. (effendude) on this site, I know that he has submitted a few National Records in the past 2 years. He's a good guy and could likely help you out if you reached out. I'd be willing to guess once he sees this thread he'd make contact, but who knows when that might be.

Joe,
The Nat'l record rule you have circled is the number for the course of fire which had the record set. Each discipline/distance/number of shots has it's own number and sub number. I can look the number up if you can be more descriptive as to what the discipline, distance and course of fire was.

Bam. Thanks Scott. Your ears must have been burning...Drew

Joe, occasionally a match is listed as 45 shots. Those are typically Palma matches. A Palma match, either mid range or long range, is accumulative of the day's shooting, not an individual string. When you registered your matches for the year with the NRA, your program has to state whether you will be awarding for individual matches or you will be awarding for the accumulative. If you are awarding for the individual matches, and it is a registered match, not an approved match, then you can establish national records.

I don't know about his ears, but with this new forum format, I believe that when you type in a screen name preceded by the @ sign, that sends an alert to that screen name that he or she has been quoted and they can look that up PDQ. Also, I think if you click on the Like button or quote someone, you also send an alert. You should have gotten one because I just quoted you.

But I could be wrong.

Maybe you'll get two alerts @bayou shooter..hehe...and yes, I got the alert as you indicated. Nice feature. Drew
