Amazing display of F -CLass FTR shooting!

Hey Guys,
I missed the match yesterday because my son came home, but by all accounts I missed a good one.

My understanding it wasn't just Fredrik (F-TR) having a good day, Woody (F-Open) and Tom Murphy also has a good day (598-39X). Woody apparently barely outscored Johnny on X's. Woody scored:
  1. 200-15X
  2. 200-19X tied his NRA Senior record
  3. 200-16X
600-50X

That is pretty awesome shooting guys. I think the Saharan dust blowing across the Atlantic must have had some magical pixie dust properties. ;)

Congrats Fredrik, Woody, Johnny and Tom.

Joe

Nope. Woody got me by a point. I had a wild Willy drop straight out the bottom. Very odd.

Yes Murf in addition to his personal best agg score he also shot a personal best 200-16x. I get as much enjoyment at seeing these guys shooting personal bests, records and phenom level of shooting as I do shooting my own rounds. Awesome group of competitive shooters out there and just good people! We had some new folks out there who are building rifles that will be joining us soon.

Congratulations, amazing shooting.
I have been shooting FTR at 500 yards since June of 2017. Got my first 200 a couple months ago.
Watching my fellow shooters do so well is inspiration.
I love the shooting, the technical part of load development, but the best part is the other shooters.

Haha, that was actually my 308 Savage I was selling. Still for sale :)

Outstanding marksmanship, and all the more impressive because a .223 cuts a meaningfully smaller hole from center to work with on liners.

If you get set a new record as expected, I bet Shilen (and Savage) would love to know and dispaly pictures of that rifle.

Fantastic shooting, Fredrik. Bayou has a core group of awesome shooters, which is expanding rapidly. Johnny, Fredrik, Margie, and others, now being joined by Tom, et al. I scored Tom at 1,000 yds. on the previous Sunday, and he shot one of the finest strings I've ever seen. Wicked switching wind, just starting to pick up following a dead calm, and he nailed every single switch, shooting something like 6 X's out of 8 shots, and nothing but 10's and X's. Margie's Dasher that she set the 600 yd. record with is also a Savage.

I grew up hearing it referred to as a mouse gun. ......... snip.............

Me too. I'm guessing that term is taken from the hot rodder dictionary where a small block Chevy is called a "mouse" motor and the big block is called a "rat" motor. Anyone else know about this term?

Mouse gun/rat gun is a derogatory term used for the 223 varmint cartridge by the M1 and M-14/M1A (30-06/308) shooters when the M-16/AR-15 started to show up in Service Rifle competition.
Was in Nam when the Corps began to replace M14 with M16. We had a bit more "colorful" metaphor for the 16...POS. Things have come a long way since then.
