Pulling bullets at the range?

Why not seat all of them at max length, bring an arbor press and seater die with you and shorten them as you go until you find the sweet spot. No loss of powder or damage to the bullet.
I have an arbor press and I used to do exactly this. I brought my Lee handloader one day and I have ever since.

i keep a few ctg cases that are damaged or wore out to establish seating depth at home--once they have had a bullet or two seated in them they have minimal tension and seating or pulling is easy--just seat the bullet long and close the bolt on one of these cases with no powder or primer and you will be within a few thousands immediately --record this length --rmember the bbl wears every shot you fire--they will seat a little longer in properly sized cases so make them about ten thou less and i like to make them long enuff that there is a little square spot on the bullet from engraving into the lands but not have dificulty closing the bolt which causes the rifle to be upset in the bags and it slows you down plus you could stick a bullet if you need to remove it from the chamber --be shure to use lots of neck tension on the final loaded rounds--this way you are very close when you get to the range and if necessary you can push the in with a wilson die and arbor press --roger
