Pulled my CZ 527 out of the safe.

So since I was a teen it was all about AR-15's AK clones and handguns for me.
About 5 years ago I got into precision rifle shooting. Mostly prone.
Have a custom Remington 700 action with a truck axle for a barrel in Mcmillan A5 stock in 308 and absolutley love it.
I cant shoot much of anything till I have my shoulder surgery and do physical therapy due to bad car accident.

I pulled my CZ 527 American in 223 pencil barrel out of the safe with a fixed 4X scope.
Sat down built up the cheek piece with lots of foam and a cheek rest pad and did some dry firing.

Gotta say the little rifle is a joy to handle and it seems like it would be a blast to just sit down on my butt at my range and do some off hand shooting at a steel plate at 200 yards.
Yeah its got a wood stock and a pencil barrel and works horrible in prone position for me.
But when sat down it feels really nice in the off hand position.

I dont hunt and only target shoot and this seems like a fun toy for off hand practice. I sure as hell wont be able to do that with my "tactical boat anchor".

Just wanted to share with the world how i discovered the joy of simple old fashioned light bolt action rifle
Bought it 15 years ago for 430$ brand new.

I have one with the varmint barrel and I love shooting it for a change of pace. It's a half moa gun with the right load and operator input.

I'm with you! I have a couple 22s and .223s that are my fun guns. Good shooters, no "pressure" guns. Not looking for .1 groups . I pull them out and relax. Josh.

I kinda wish that they chambered it in something like 20VT, shoot all day long and wont bother the shoulder.

I will probably rebarrel my .223 for 20VT eventually. Just need to scrape out the stock for a varmint type barrel since the pencil one is way too thin for a day of shooting.

I am with this article , CZ 453 American What dream . On paper or Rock Chucks at 100 yards +
Little Rifles are Fun as well.
I also shoot Long Range 1000 yard .
May just look for another CZ ?

I can relate to the shoulder operation as I had it done in February. Here is a hint, do the therapy and exercises and if they say don't lift anything don't until the doctor says you can. I jumped the gun and now I have pain again. You are in for a ride as shoulder surgery is one of the most painful surgerys out there.

One of my favorite rifles is a little CZ 527 American in 221FB. Light, more accurate than it should be with the pencil barrel, and just a fun little rig to carry all day for a walkabout in the outback here. Now that I'm into 'geezerhood', I find myself carrying it more and more. Heavy varmint rigs are fine off the bench or bipod prone, but there's always a place for these nice light little rifles.



And did I mention accurate? Yes they are!

Safeties are over rated. My safety is between ny ears.. I never put a safety on. Read and heard too many stories of " I had the safety on!!"

Had two cuffs redone and reconstruction of the socket done in 06, will let you know when it gets back to normal!! Seriously, make sure you have a nice lazy boy to sleep in after shoulder surgery, your gonna need it!
