Pulled bullets-can I reuse everything

I pulled some loaded bullets out with my bullet puller,the hammer kind). Can I reuse the bullets and powder? Do I need to resize the brass for proper neck tension? I will be using this stuff mainly for fouler/warm up shots. Thanks Ron

Hi Ron,

This should not be a problem at all. I have done this before, and I would pull the decap pin and neck size and reload as usual. Sounds like a good plan to me!

A few weeks ago I was playing around with some new powder and some bullets I bought from a friend of mine. about 20 or so had been pulled, so i loaded those first. you could see the marks the previous neck left on them. i shot two of the best groups i have ever fired from that gun with those bullets. I wouldn't worry one bit about it. I am talking under 1/8" groups on both of them,3 shots). I just wish I could match that again

I saw a artical in precision shooter i think it was a few years ago where they pulled some bullets with diaginal cutters and left huge marks in the bullets. on purpose. they then loaded and shot those rounds and found out that they shot almost exactly as the new bullets did. its really amazing how little differance it makes. but I'm sure if they where shooting at 1000yds there would be a BC issue, but at 100, it didnt seem to be a big deal.

As long as you don't see any marks on the heel of the bullets, have right at it, and thay will shoot as good as new.
You can take a new bullet and put a tiny scratch on the heel and it will not go in the same group as a unscratched one will.
Mark them all you want on the sides and they will all go in the same spot.

As most shooters know or should know, the base end of the bullet is the crucial steering end and requires perfect uniformity for consistent accuracy. This is why I always uniform every jacket base I use for my bullet making. In my opinion it is a worth while extra step. I had Ferris Pindell make me an extra die and punch specifically made to perform this extra function. This now assures me all my jacket bases are uniform before making them into either Flat Base or BT bullets. In my opinion this is well worth the extra step. After doing this, all of my jacket bases are now uniform. This makes a bad jacket base good and a good jacket base still good. So if you receive a batch of bullets with a few minor striations on their shank, use them along with the ones that don't have any. Your barrel's bore won't know the difference. BUT DON'T MESS WITH THE ONES THAT HAVE BASE
IRREGULARITIES. USE THOSE FOR FIRE FORMING CASES. The NRA tech staff put out an article addressing this in the 1956 American Rifleman Magazine.

+1 on re-using them. They will be fine. Especially since you used an inertia puller. Inertia pullers cause virtually no damage or deformation to the bullet whatsoever. As for having to resize your brass to get proper neck tension? Yes, resize your necks again before seating.
