Shooting pulled bullets

So I had some 300 whisper rounds loaded and needed to pull them...got out the "hammer" style puller I have and started pounding away. The bullets would not come out...

So I got some pliers and my press and pulled them that way. It made 2 small scratches/lines/scuffs in each bullet.

Would you guys shoot those bullets? The scratches are pretty deep, just wondering what to expect.

I'd shoot them through an old dedicated fire forming barrel when prepping new brass.

Just mic them up and if they are not way out of round ,shoot them.I shoot pulled bullets all the time with no problems. Just be sure you didnt squish them. You could size them with a lee in line bullet sizer used for cast bullets.

I have also been wondering the same thing. I just bought some .264s for a good deal, but 50 of the 250 have been pulled. They are in good shape they just have scratching just above the boattail where the neck was tightened around them.

BUT i was wondering if they were ok to shoot to break in a new barrel and to fire form at the same time.

Off on a bit of a tangent here but relevant to the subject of pulling bullets. I've recently purchased a Hornady camlock bullet puller. I highly recommend this product. Once set up it makes pulling a batch of bullets a breeze and won't harm your bullets.

Handier yet is Sinclair's plier style, if you're not running a lot of neck tension.

I can't believe the little Fireball's neck can hang on to a big 30 cal bullet and resist a hammer blow.....

I absolutely would use them for just about anything except LR hunting or competition.
Wayne.

I have shot some pulled bullets at the 600 yard line of a service rifle match. They were single rould fed in to a AR and shot just as well as new. This was iron sight so not looking for super super tight groups but they got the job done.

Putting the bullets into your seating die and seating them until they break the "bond" between the case and the neck will make it it easier to hammer the bullets out. As to the scratches, I wouldn't worry and shoot them.
Accuracy should be as good as before as long as the base of the bullet wasn't distorted.

No problem at all with scratch's on the sides of a bullet, but if it's on the heel all bets are off.......... They will not be accurate...........
