PTG Unithroater.

I just ordered a PTG unithroater kit for 30 caliber (308). Can a moron use one of these successfully?? um asking for a friend lol.. My 300 WSM has a SAAMI chamber and lets just say that aint working for me shooting 210 Bergers..

Be very careful until you have learned to use it. The tool is removing such a small amount of metal from the throat and top of the lands it is VERY, VERY, VERY easy to go way past your intended mark. Just take it slow and easy, checking constantly, and you'll be fine. The tool is fully capable of creating a amazingly beautiful and pristine new throat in a barrel when used properly, it's just very easy to overdo it and go too far in.

I'll definitely second that. It is VERY, VERY easy to take out too much throat. Go slow and measure alot. You cannot measure too much as you go. My first build I took out about .090 too much throat.

Do you have a bore scope? And I will say again, go very easy. You can barely feel when it starts to cut.

Yeah, coming come from a match this weekend semi's were not able to make it over the Continental Divide if they were not chained up. And yes some chose to ignore the signs. I saw a guy in a u-haul end up crossing over into on coming traffic west of the divide. That guy was lucky no one got hurt.

I’ve used mine many times, as recommended above I will restate please go slow. If you insert the cutter and turn it backwards you will feel when you touch the lands. back up a little set your stops And then go in in .005 increments until you start to get an increase in freebore.

Only ever overshot once. I was rushing because the wife and kids were coming in and I was trying to finish .

Steve, one of the ar wildcats i was working on, i ruined a barrel because i did not thick it was cutting. it was and well i removed way to much. Stay warm
