Q. PTG 30Cal Borerider Unithroater

For those with experience with the borerider profile PTG unithroater, in my case 30 cal. Q1 How much depth do you need to cut before you notice a change in the bullets seating depth?

Through the borescope my lands have been cut but the major diameter has not started to cut and my seating depth for my bullet has not change. I've adjusted the Unithroater at least. 0.150” at least and the reamer and pilot seem to be riding the bore. The pilot is a tight fit and my barrel is a 308/300 standard, Broughton 5C rifling. The land have been cutting true and evenly. Yes I'm using a dark cutting oil. Again this is a borerider profiled Unithroater, I was told it matches the throating profile of the bore rider reamer, so looking at the borerider print it indicates 0.7010” before the major diameter starts.

Q2. So I'm assuming I have to cut to a depth of 0.7010” before I notice the seating depth change am I correct?

Thanks in advance for any experience and info. Cheers!

Yes according to that print you will be cutting for about .710 at a diameter of .304" before the full diameter of .3085 stats to cut at which point you touch point will start to move. I order throating reamers half way between the bore and groove so I can put bore riders in at any length I want. Usually the bearing surface length. Have fun!
