PTG reamer wait time

Hello everyone,
After seeing multiple posts on several sites telling of long waits for reamers from PTG, i was a liitle iffy about where to purchase the reamer for my new .284 Shehane long range rifle.
I'd seen the comments about getting reamers overnight if you are one of the top three shooters in the world. I am not one of the top shooters in the world, in fact i don't like competing. I enjoy long range shooting a lot, and unknown distance steel shooting is my favorite game.
I spoke with Dave personally when I ordered my reamer. He didn't know me, but treated me like an old friend during the conversation. Dave said he would personally get my special order reamer out to me in 4 to six weeks. More than a few shooters told me not to hold my breath.
I received my reamer Saturday morning 10/13/2012, 4 weeks and 2 days after placing the order.
I believe in informing potential customers of issues with a product, or delivery dates, that are ignored. That being said , great service, and delivery dates kept, deserve to be posted too.
Dave Kiff did right by me. I am not a "name shooter" and this was my first order with PTG. I received my special order reamer exactly how I spec'ed it, in the time frame quoted. As a customer, that is all I can ask for.
Great job Dave.
I will recommend you to anyone needing any of the items, and services you provide.
Bill

Agreed. I've purchase several reamers as well as Other tools from ptg and I've been satisfied with delivery. Also quality is 2nd to none. I had an issue with a reamer that arrived damaged. I called let them know and they said they could have me a replacement ready by the end of the week. So I made payment on the new one and as soon as they received the damaged one they refunded my money on it. Great company!!!!!

Thank you. I have started a custom shop for only customs and wildcats here in the big shop. They are starting to roll out pretty fast. I would say the way we are grinding now we not only will be back to 1-4 weeks on carbide but also steel reamers by Christmas . There will be times a order will get backed up but that is the way Wildcats are. Thank you for your orders and being patient during our growing pains but we are a big train rollin now. With a custom shop in the middle . Thanks Dave

I have been so busy training the new employees and finishing the new expansion on the shop i have not had time to get on the forum much. i have hired a great group of men and women since we expanded 198 total so far, I wanted to let everyone know a couple things . First we have a full blown custom shop now , larger than before with Kelly, Pete, Jason, Rich, Jonathan, Don and myself doing prints and grinding reamers by hand on the old Cincinnati Tool Grinders and Crystal lakes that Rock, Pendel and Red Elliot had years ago . I still have the other divisions of the company grinding bolts and making bottom metal and rifle parts along with Actions and special CNC cutters . We have a full CNC shop that reproduces the SAAMI and hot Custom Chamber Reamers also, Jerry Stiller is still keeping us busy and so do all the Die and larger Rifle and Hand Gun companies have the Gals and Guys upstairs jumping. Our deliveries are running 4-6 weeks with 5% taking 8-10 weeks, good news is we have thousands on the shelf. Remember we also have 48 hour turn around in some instances . Second thing i wanted to cover is this fellow you all know that I told to take his work and go else ware, well his lies are causing the girls to have to answer crazy questions . First of all i did not Die, nor commit suicide nor did I lock my door and try and commit HARRY CARY . My gosh he has said everything from , I have cancer to I hung myself . First of all my Attorneys in North Carolina and Oregon are getting together a spanking for him, but because of slowly watching my mother die over the last two years I forgive him because that's what she would have told me to do. So N.L. I forgive you, enough said . So if any one out there needs something I will not commit Harry Carry before it gets finished I promise and my crew is getting trained and growing to make the best tools and parts we can for you all . Thanks for everything and all your support while we built on and my Mother was sick with Cancer . Thanks you all and God Bless you all , David Kiff owner of Pacific Tool and Gauge, Pacific Tactical and PPG

Just put an order in for REM SA bottom metal thru PT&G. Backordered. Hopefully it's an item that's made in house and restocks fast. PT&G is top notch and obviously busy if bottom metal is on back order status. Been happy with all the reamers I've purchased. 4 weeks is as fast or faster than most. Quality first and speed helps but tough to get both. Keep up the quality work.

Yes , Earl had a Stroke and Eddy has been running the Bottom metal three shifts while Earl is recuperating, Earl should be back end of next week . but its coming, we are the largest producer of bottom metal now and they have 6 CNC Mills running 3 shifts

I am really happy with my PTG Rem SA Oberndorf sp? Bottom metal. Lady who took my order was very nice. It was in stock when ordered. I will use again.

Here at PTG, we are constantly growing and Dave is at the center of it all. The rapid growth has caused its challenges, but we are working hard to make sure the products are leaving in a reasonable amount of time. If anyone needs me to look into an order, or has a question. Feel free to message here or my extension is 154.

Purchased the M5 flush mount and love it. I have 2 already in LA. Can't wait to get it. Gun is about done. Thanks again for the good quality and heads up on its production.
John

Here's another data point. I ordered a special reamer from PT&G exactly four weeks ago and it arrived today, two weeks earlier than promised. Not bad for a dead guy.

please don't give me good news like this , hell man it makes me look good and Suicidal maniacs defiantly don't need good news , Thanks and all joking aside, we hope to be down to 2-3 weeks on 75% of the wildcats and customs and 1 week or faster on shelf stock that needs special bushings, free bores cut back or necks changed just a few thousands . Its been rough training new sales staff and teaching people that only have ever had one or two guns all there life, The last four men and women I hired have either gunsmithing and sales or bullet making experience and that helps. Now making tool an cutter grindermen out of folks that have machine shop experience is a lot easier because the colleges are teaching a little grinding here in Oregon . This big train is a moving now and lots of new things are happening . the wildcats in my custom shop will always take a little while and I need to remember the larger this company gets the more I need to make sure the custom chamber reamers always go through the custom shop and not the CNC Tool and Grind shop. By the way the fellow that was having me make the P.O. Ackley micrometer adjustable reamer holders is selling 100 unites a month now to not only the firearms industry but also a lot of home shop machinist's and he is going to start purchasing 900 per order so i talked him into lowering the price because we can do them cheaper for him also. Thanks for the great compliment Sir, I will always be there for you no matter what you need . by the way if anyone wants us to make something out of the ordinary just let me know . Since I am not taking care of my Mother and I have my back operation over I'm feeling twenty years younger. Thanks Dave , dave@kifftool.com or 541-826-5808 forgot to give that to the caller that just purchased the 284 using the 195 grain Berger that mentioned this thread, thanks again Dave Kiff

Funny how things happen sometimes.....

I happened to call today, i spoke with Brian i believe, to ask if i could get the prints for my reamers.

My old e-mail got a bug and i`ve never been back, just so happens my reamer print file was there.....

While i was on the phone with him my reamer prints started popping up on my cell....

The only thing i did`t get was a .17 Fireball reamer, but it was pretty much stock except for the neck dia....

The prints i wanted were received and that`s the important part.....

Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.

Phil.
