Proshot Cleaning rods .22-26 cal.

Tony,
Plinkerforlife is correct, and the Pro-shot rod does not vary more than .0005+or-. I f you're making a 2 piece rod guide, .190 reamer works perfectly for an aluminum insert. I also make delrin inserts for coated rods, and they vary a lot....Dewey .22 caliber is .195 to .210. the Boretech varies a lot as well. I really like the Pro-shot rods, but he's right about the length as well. They need to make a 40 or 42.

Gerry
Gerry/linekin, that is exactly the info I needed.
Some years back someone made some Delrin rod extensions to fix the shortness problem. I'm sure I have one somewhere I've just got to find it.

Whether using a 17 or a 20 cal rod, it is important to get the size of the jag you use and the patch size right and to use a bore guide. Otherwise you get rods stuck in the barrel and/or bend the rod.

Clint use to sell the delrin extensions. Check with him.

I use a 20 cal jag & 1 1/2 Pro Shot patches & it "feels" right to me. A skoosh less than snug & glides right thru. I don't think its a good idea to fight a patch down thru there. Been a while since I cleaned a CZ but would likely use a smaller patch, 1" or so.
I prefer the Pro Shot to my Ivy for the shorter length. I'm close to the guide when thru but haven't had anything longer than a 24" barrel too. The Ivy however is 8/32 & I've only used a 22 jag & 3/4" patches with it. Haven't patched with it in years though, just brush with it.
Thanks.......Im going to try a big patch on a .20 cal jag and see what it feels like.

Tony,

That someone who made the polymer rod extensions was Don Leidich, Bore Rider Barrel Care Products. He made std and extended length polymer jags and brush holders. I have a few in centerfire calibers. Unfortunately, he stopped making them in 2016.
