PROJECT 2 K -- 338 Improved -- 2,000 yds

Today was an unforgetable day at Rocky Top.
When I got out of Church I had a text that Tracy,
aka BIG BORE BAT SHOOTER was enroute.
He attached the Schmidt-Bender and cleaned the
rifle.

We zeroed with first shot at 1,000 after he attached
the Schmidt-Bender 50 X.
Then we went to 1428 rock on the pond bank and then
to the the back of the field at 1550. Every shot was
right there.
Before we loaded up and moved to Rocky Top II Tracy took
a few shots with his Tubb 2,000 6 XC at 1,000 with 115 DTAC's.

Today's goal was PROJECT 2 K.
For 2,000 we had to move to another hilltop.

Had to move a bench in one gator and Big Bores equipment
in another gator to the hill top at Rocky Top II.



Got set up and first shot was really close.
After a few zeroing shots Tracy scored a rock that was
approximately 12 by 18 inches three straight shots.






Then Tyler took a turn and dusted the rock.

Later Shayne arrived and I took the Gator to the house to pick
him up because he had pizza and drinks.

Shayne hit the rock on the second shot.

I think Tracy still shoots the Berger 300 OTM bullet at around 3100 fps
from the IMPROVED version. Significantly more velocity and after seeing
it perform beside the standard 338 Lapua, it was no contest.
We shot it one day before a thunderstorm hit and the wind was blowing
things off the bench but those 300 OTM's were making hits on a 18 in plate
at 1500 yards.
