Folks: Your government doesn’t need to amend the constitution to kill 2A, and have no plans to do so. You can very easily achieve the same objective without all the messiness of a constitutional crisis.
Put liability on manufacturers. This is already the written intent of HR157 and the written intent of the Biden administration (Joe Biden's Plan to End Gun Violence | Joe Biden for President) . It will likely extend to retailers. This will immediately put all domestic manufacturers and retailers out of business, or at a minimum freeze any further sales to the public. The gov still needs weapons so it will likely bail them out to become state-only suppliers turn the small arms mfg task over to one of the big six defense contractors.
California has already proven you can legally infringe on 2A all you like by passing laws on silly design restrictions. Hi cap mags, real ARs, SBRs, night vision, and suppressors, all illegal in CA. Get caught with that stuff and you get 10 years in a cage to think about it. Biden has stated he plans to do same. Don’t kid yourselves, with the swipe of a pen, NFA items, high cap mags and any scary looking firearm could become a felony to possess. Much can be done without even a legislative process. Trump did it with an executive order, zero notice, no meeting of congress, on bump stocks. If you still have one, you could do 10 years and pay a $250,000 fine. When the left pushes sweeping firearm law changes - and they will - millions of people will need to decide whether to turn in their banned weapons and kit or become felons. 95% will turn them in. 5% will be a “problem”.
There is already a federal database that is probably 80% accurate on who owns banned items. If you have ever done an FFL transfer, you’re on it. Especially y’all with any NFA items. When the Dems pass the suppressor ban - which they will - the government knows exactly who was these since they are all registered. And they will know that anyone with an NFA item is a very likely candidate trouble maker.
I think this happened recently with Remington being responsible for one of the shootings. Down the slippery slope.
