Ok, let me set this up with a little background. I really would like to have a 6.5 Creedmoor but don't care for the rifles available, so I'm thinking of having one of my Rem 700's re barreled. I have a .308 and a .243 which could easily be converted with not much more than a barrel change, from what I understand. Be here is the question. I have two .25-06's. I know the bolt faces are the same, I know the difference between LA and SA, but if I am only going to use the gun for target shooting and not worried about feeding issues from the magazine, is it possible to convert my .25-06 into a 6.5 Creedmoor?

Rebarrel it, true the action is desired, and go shoot. Single feeding it will be no issue. Happy Shooting.
Great, thanks for the information guys, but one more question....will it feed at all out if the magazine?
It has bottom metal.
The nice thing about using a long action is that you can seat the bullets out to the maximum (perhaps with a little throating) and have a bit more powder space. The 6.5 VLDs and Hybrid bullets are long but that would not be a problem for you! I have Winchester LAs and have fed 6XC rounds through them with no problems. Pretty much the same idea.
OTOH, the 700 lacks a cone breech, so you "may" have issues of single feeding that short (stubby) cartridge into the 700's chamber.
FWIW, I pretty much gotta finagle cartridges into the chamber on a blueprinted 700 wearing DBM when shooting the 6X47 Swiss Match… … even tho it feeds from the magazine — flawlessly.

Install a Score High loading sled and single shot loading will be a breeze.
Sits on top of the existing follower, magazine spring pressure holds it in place.
No modifications required to the action.
