6.5 creedmoor in a La?

i ran across a Built 300 winmag rifle that was too good to pass up. The specs are, Surgeon 1086 Action, bartlein 1-10 barrel, McMillan A5 stock and Surgeon BM. I was originall looking to build a 6.5cm, but I thought why not a switch barrel setup. I know I will need a La standard bolt, and barrel for the creedmoor.

My question is, how to make the SA caliber run consistent in a La. I've heard that Accurate 30/06 mags work well, I'm looking for a little more feedback.

You will need to modify the mag and posably bend the ears to to narrow them. Testing it yourself is the way to go. I would also recomend a 6.5x47 over the creedmoor because its more accurate. If your a hand loader. If you only shoot factory ammo then stick with the creedmoor idea.

I run a 6.5x47 in my long action but use a shorter 308 mag.

Did you have to modify the mag to fit in your La bottom metal?

I'm seriously considering the 6.5x55 swede as well.
Not really. I purchased a stock that holds the short action mag. You could get two different stocks. One for the long action and the other for the short action mag.
If you want a 6.5 the sweed is just about the best choice there is for a long action.

I understand you may have a nice 6.5x47 but to say they are more accurate is a big statement as I have a creedmoor as my lite gun and routinely out perform the 6.5x47.
Lol
It also has to do with the driver too.
But the 47,using 140gr8 pills are nit quiet as fast as the creedmoor, I guess I've just been lucky with mine then,.cause it shoots really really good at 1000 yd. benchrest
