Priority mail taking forever?

I shipped a rifle on Oct. 7th Priority mail 2 day, it was set to be delivered Oct. 9th and it still hasn't arrived at its destination. The last tracking update was Oct. 10th and it said it had departed the USPS Sort facility in RALEIGH, NC, It is headed to Walnut Cove NC so I would think it should've arrived at its destination by now?

Anyone ever had a similar situation?

Steve

I was just worried, guess I've had better luck than most with USPS. Its just weird that it was in Raleigh two days ago and still not there. Guess I should've used UPS..

I recall having that happen to me before sometime ago. Sent a rifle from Fort Bragg to Concord area in NC and it took over 10 days to get there. Tracking was never up to date and stops suddenly in the middle of no where. Showed it arrived to destination facility in a timely manner but went cold for 8 days after that. Then it was delivered.

Don't panic. It will arrive.

I shipped one of my bipods PRIORITY mail from Az to Pa and it took 10 days, I don't think they look at the label that says PRIORITY. Next time I will have them put the Priority tape all over it. It didn't get scanned till the day before it got delivered. :( At least it got there.

I've got you all beat. About 7 or 8 years ago I sold a set of badger scope rings and sent them to the buyer via Priority Mail. Took 21 days to get from MN to South Dakota. The tracking just sort of dropped off and it didn't ever show that it had been delivered, even long after the fact. I had already mailed him a refund check about a week before they finally arrived. I still use priority mail for cheap and or heavy shipments, as I've had similar bd experiences with both UPS and FedEx...

Posted previously here about a situation that I had with USPS, lost two packages in two weeks last one was a die. Also I have mailed M.O's across country some have taken 3 days others 6 . They suck!!! No more packages for me only UPS or Fedex.

IMO, if it's in state, I'd drive the thing to the new owner. Unless it's Texas or Alaska where I can't take 8 days off.

I have never had a problem w/USPS. I prefer them over the rest myself & don't forget they HAVE NOT been a part of the Govt since the 70s. They are funded by themselves even though congress has a say over them. A little postage increase is nothing to whine about either. Don't forget when you mail before a holiday weekend to add the day off in there.

I used to oversee a shipping/receiving department at a large manufacturing plant here in Colorado. We tried every package delivery service available to us .Fed Ex won hands down so that is how I ship my guns now. In December they all lose/delay shipments . 30% of the year's freight ships in December . My gunsmith won't ship anything in December .I agree with delivering the item half way if the receiving party will meet you there.

Very good service from USPS until the last two weeks.
Shipments from Midway start out UPS and then switch at main Post Office to USPS...that has worked exceptionally well.

Hmmmm, usps is not part of the government but congress has a say in them. Don't mean to offend anyone but i'll take my chances with whoever congress has noyhing to do with 8)

Good luck scoring an X RING on that shot! ;D

Well I just sent 2 packages in USPS flat rate boxes without a hitch...luckily. from Annapolis (sorry for me) to Houston, and Annapolis to Carolina. both took 2 days. but they were not heavy. I did get screwed over a while ago and shipped some heave boxes of brass that took over 2 weeks. I think if it is heavy, nobody feels like picking it up >:( so they just leave it.
cheers,
Doc

I've had good and bad with all . I've learned to insure the package to at least break even who ever I use . I did have USPS lose 1 item which was a fuel pump ouch i ate that learn again never to send without insurance. From then on it has been insured .USPS did lose a barrel 1 time then they lost the paper work I filled for the claim later finding it a week or so later . And I learned from this site not to send registered first class if you want it in a hurry . And to think they are getting into the health care system thats scary.
