The current situation is direct result outsourcing military small arm ammunition to civilian companies. How many of the arsenals from the 60’s and 70’s are still open? Take a war, limited civilian production capability and a political scare and you have where we are today.

Joel, the war against terrorism has been ongoing for 8 yrs and the war in Iraq is winding down. Civilian manufacture of military ammo has been ongoing for decades. This shortage started when it became clear that Obama would win the Presidency.

Do you think that is opportunity is being lost by enemies? What good are Second Amendment protected firearms without ammunition?

The Supreme Court and most regional courts are not stupid about the meaning of the 2nd Amend in that the right to bear arms does not include only the possesion of firearms but also their effective functioning,ie ammo).

For what its' worth, I had a couple of nice fellows 'here' sell me CCI primers, so thanks. I have also bought some on Gunbroker,,CCI-BR-4 & BR-2, today in fact) as who knows when they may be available from the usual suppliers...I paid a large premium-my choice. No hazmat for shipping, so not too bad. Otherwise, I have a bunch of very expensive metal & wood poles....also, I called Cabela's & they had RL-15 in stock,5 lbs). for those of you searching for that particular item. Forget about loaded .223, tho. Keep hunting & asking-they are out there. Good luck!

If hundreds of rounds of ammunition can make someone nuts, then I must be certifiably insane. I have over 10,000rds of 5.56 and ton of 45acp and more of 30 carbine than both of the others put together, plus a bunch of other calibers.

Primers, powder and ammunition is still out there, and some of it isn't sky high priced, it's just who you know and bump into.
