Primers

Hi All,

I'm getting back into handloading and occasional prairie dogging as well as moving into the community of benchrest shooting. Two weeks ago I gave the go-ahead to build my first custom rifle for these purposes. Now I'm learning from the local reloading supplier that he doesn't have small rifle benchrest primers or small rifle magnum primers to handload for my new 6br. Can any of you out there tell me where I might find 500 to 1000 primers of either of these sizes to get me started in this endevor?

Thanks very much,

Primers and BR styles of brass are the hot ticket right now. So the best bet would be to put your name on a waiting list for a few suppliers Bruno's,Powder Valley,Midway etc. Beware that their are quite a few PRICE GOUGERS out there right now. Locally the Win Lg and Sm rifle primers are going for $26-28 per 1000 Federals are avg.$5 more per 1000 and supply has been sporadic at best CCI's are about the same as the Feds. BR2s-4s and Fed GMs are really hard to find. Bottom line is get in line with the rest of us :cry:. GOOD LUCK

you think primers are hard to find, just wait until you go looking for brass..LOL

It ain't funny :nono: Been looking everywhere and there is none to be had. I saw a 1000 count box of 450 CCI primers on gun broker that sold for $76.00 .

I shoot a 30BR 118gr bullet 34.0 gr H4198 powder and a fed br primer. I have no problems with the primers at that high a load. 3035 fps and no pressure signs. Why does the 6br want the CCI 450 primers? I also use the fed . primers in my 6ppc with no pressure signs and I'm smoking that thing. 29.5 gr n133 with a 68 gr bullet. Thanks , John

Cool:) I'm on the waiting list at Midway and other places. I have plenty of Fed. primers and about 250 CCI450's about 3 years old. Not many to work with, but then again my rifle isn't quite ready yet. Guess I'll just have to try winning hog shoots with the 30br. 500 yards with a 30br  John
