Primer prices coming down

My question is still the same. With all the people out there, no one knows the actual cost from CCI/Federal/Remington for primers from the actual factory? I mean. All this time and not a single person knows the true cost? This secret has been kept this long?

I bet they are still the same price as before COVID. I'm guessing about $25 a 1k. Then they hit the distributors (whoever that is, also not discussed) and the prices double or triple.

Same thing happened in the lumber market during COVID. There was never a shortage of lumber. The companies simply gouged their own customers and the retail outlets (owned by the same investment companies) obviously didn't push back. In a normal world if lumber went up ten times then the retail outlets would scream to high heaven. If the core of the entire supply chain is controlled by the same people, they simply propagate the gouge. They all make a fortune while the consumers suffer.

With all the firearms related social media influencers no one has dug into this? Not even a little bit? That seems crazy to me. There were several people that investigated lumber gouging.

You're a business man. You buy barrels by the gross (I'm guessing)..Would you post your actual per barrel cost to the world?? Maybe?? But most likely not. Business isn't done that way. A person either buys or negotiates a price or they don't buy at all waiting for better prices.

But I don't control the entire barrel market either. Supply and demand doesn't apply in monopolies.

Nothing is the same price as before covid. Raw materials, labor, energy, transportation etc. Everything costs more.
How would knowing the "actual cost" of primers change anything? The retail price is known- you either buy them or don't.

Neither do the online places. They price according to what markets will bare.
One place charges (hypothetical) $ 250 for a product that was $30 a year ago and they're selling out. Now other places see this so they also raise their prices to capitalize on a perceived shortage. All the while their actual cost was near the previous price and they're all stockpiling and purchasing at near old prices.

I wasn't talking about them. I was talking about the distributors. I'm pretty sure not a single online retail store is buying factory direct. I would love to know the supply chain. That was my point.

Well, regional farm store has had primers CONSIDERABLY less than online shops for better part of 2 years and a mom and pop shop I visit on occasion has never priced ANY of his primers more than $89 per K and he's happy with his margins. So what does that say to you ?
I know what it says to me.

I'm not sure about what is going on here, but it sure does make you wonder.

I went to one of the chain stores here in town and they had some BR4's in stock. Figuring they were higher than hell, as usual, I asked anyway. $10 per 100. I bought all 5K they had. A few months later they have restocked, and they're now $15.50. I figured someone just made an error and listed their cost as the price for them. They also have IMR4350 for $80lb if anyone is interested..........

Distributors are the ones making the most money. You would never get the pricing structure from them. You are more likely to get the local dealer price before you could get the dist price. I know my dealer marks everything firearm related up around 33%.

I helped him get set up with a company a friend has that deals with fishing poles and lures. I was sent the dealer price list on mistake. And that had MAP pricing. And that mark up was 75%. I knew the mark up was high but not that high.

Even AI is being taught wrong. I paid 3 cents a primer back in 2018 3.5 cents max. I asked Ai when did primers sell for 30-35 a box and it said they have never been that low in a LONG time if ever. They rewriting history as if they were never that low. Does anyone else remember 1,000 Remington 71/2 for $35.00? When was that?

I am getting tired of everyone gouging from primers, to food to Detroit Lions "we still have never been to a SB" but please pay 5x the price for your old tickets. $530.00 a seat for crap en-zone seats that were $190.00 in 2022. Let the post COVID gauging end.

There are still some 9 1/2s in the closet with a price tag of $11.50/1000 alongside some WLRMs at $13.25.

The stash was running low around 2020 & the sticker shock from one month to the next as I was trying to refill the empty spots was more than irritating. A day late & a $100 short...

Ai... There's a joke. A program created by psychopathic liars to lie about everything they want lied about.

We need Kyle Reese.

Well ....AI did chase down a pile of protein chains that will reduce time of discovery for drug makers by a drastic amount and that..may save our lives sooner rather than later--have a friend that is a chemist in the industry--says it is a game changer
