Primer pocket uniformer question

I am confused Ned, the same primers are used in both pieces of brass. Why would you want them at different depths?
The K&M tool sets the depth at a consistent .122, CCI BR-4 is the primer I mostly use and it end up .003 below flush.
The depth of the small rifle primer pocket is not the same between .223 Rem brass and 6BR or .308 brass, which are deeper. A tool designed for the .223 Rem SRP pocket will not come anyhwere near reaching the bottom of a .308 primer pocket.

Ned is correct about this issue . I learned about the "Depth" situation early in my reloading career , and found the Sinclair ( Hornady ) LRP & SRP tools . Set both of them so they would only take out a nice , small , uniform corner in the bottom of the pocket , to insure a good base for the primer to sit on . And they would go down to the same height . Rarely get any brass off the bottom of the pocket , but it does insure a consistent depth for seating . Now I just do a quick spin with the tool to clean out the garbage on a fired case , and run them thru the cleaning process . Anybody out there that uses PPU , LRP cases , their pockets are a bit deeper , and a standard tool won't reach the bottom of the pocket , so a adjustable tool is required . Or maybe they fixed it by now . Stopped using their cases a few years back .

How far below flush is a primer seated in the 6br or .308 srp brass?
I guess my main question is why not just set the depth the same for all? Whether is is .122-.1??, use one tool. Even if that means cutting a little more out of .223 rem. All of your srp are set to x amount below flush.
I keep a Sinclair priming tool for each head diameter and never have to change settings.

I just purchased the Sinclair primer pocket uniformer/larger, part number UN-8003.
I tried it last night in several different calibers and brands of brass but it didn't remove any brass on any of them. It is as if it doesn't cut deep enough. It removed a little bit of the carbon on some but didn't get down to the brass on any of them.
What am I missing here?
One thing I had problems with to start with, using a Sinclair priming pocket uniformed with my battery drill, was I didn’t run it in far enough. It’s kind of hard to tell. I didn’t want to mark the bases of my brass but I find without doing that slightly I’m not getting the tool in to full depth.

Ive uesd the Sinclair uniformer for years. It cuts about 20% of the Lapua brass. Usually the cuts a very small amount out of the center around the flash hole.

Is late better than never? You decide. I, too, have used the Sinclair for years. Recently I dropped the SRP pocket uniformer, damaging it, and when I went to order another, I saw the SRP uniformer AND one listed as being for "PPC/ BR." Curious, I ordered both. Cutter on the standard uniformer sits 0.120 above the shoulder; on the PPC/ BR model it is 0.125". So, if you're after brass shavings, order the latter.
