Primer Pocket Crimp Removal - Help

I have been using a hand chamfering tool to remove the primer pocket crimp from 223 LC brass and obviously it's very time consuming. Does anyone know of a better tool for the job? I have a RCBS Trim Mate Power Station and would like to find a tool I can use under power to remove the crimp. Any help is appreciated.

My experience is that any tool that uses a shell holder to hold the case, then pushes a swager into the primer pocket area to remove the crimp causes problems. The case rims tend to be distorted due to the needed force applied from below the case that is supported only by the rim,in the wrong direction for the design of cases). Been there, done that - hate it - quit doing it.

Get the Dillon and never look back. One thing though to keep in mind. If there is a brass 'tag' from the primer flash hole being punched the Dillon can fold that tag back over the flash hole when swaging. I always run a flash hole uniformer into 223 cases that I have decrimped.

Now if Dillon will just get their 50 BMG crimp removing tool on the market life will be better for these cases.

I got ~7,000 rounds of very mixed 223 brass for $65 a couple years ago.

A friend with an RCBS told me to avoid that product.

I got the Dillon Super Swager and it really is a good tool.

I put it on a board, and clamped the board to a bench in front of the TV and went to work.

It can be converted for 308 brass, but the most 308 I shoot per day is 50 rounds.
I can shoot 500 rounds of .223 per day.

I use a wilson primer pocket reamer chucked on the threads in a 3/8' drill motor. it is not intended to be used this way but works very well. it makes the primers seat with very even preasure. the casses are hard to keep from spinning in yoiur fingers, so i only do about 50 at a time. maybe some kind of rubber glove would help with that?

I have the RCBS tool and the Dillon. If you only need to do 30-40 cases then the RCBS is fine. Any more than that and the Dillon is worth its weight in gold!

Dillon makes two swager tools, though the second one isn't so obvious. This is because the second device is called an RL1050 press. This tool will process 1000 to 1200 cases per hour. See for yourself at http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/content/p/9/pid/23877/catid/1/Super_1050
