Primer Pocket Cleaning Dasher

Hi guys....After several firings (5 or more) I've noticed that with the Lapua brass, about 1/3 of the primer pockets get really nice and shiny clean at the bottom of the primer pocket when using the Lapua primer pocket uniformer to clean, about 1/3 get pretty clean and the last 1/3 get only slightly cleaned it appears, maybe a couple don't look like the bottom of the primer pocket even get touched. I clean the uniformer with a bronze brush while spinning in a drill to make sure there is full contact with the case head. It seems like the only thing left is that the primer pockets are different depths.
I don't know how much this matters but I wonder about it. Do any of you guys experience this also and do you do anything to correct it?

Thanks much in advance and Best Wishes to all.

Dennis

Could be that cleaning the reamer w/ a bronze brush has dulled your reamer or left a slight build up of bronze on the cutting edges. Do you reverse the drill motor when cleaning? On the other hand I've gotten Lapua brass that wasn't anywhere near as consistent in measurement as is touted. The exception NOT the rule! Have you chkd other measurements on your brass? IE: neck wall thickness & expansion @ the base / web? ............ You might want to look into a reamer w/ adjustable cutter depth so you can uniform all......... Also important to keep the face of the reamer free of chips that can get trapped & reduce the depth you can cut to. I usually run the case head over a clean rag just before cutting to insure there's no grit there to limit the depth of cut. You've fired the brass 5 times. Are the same pockets still showing minimum cleaning?

Don't know who's reamer you are using but Sinclair make two different small rifle primer reamers. One is for Lapua BR brass and the other is for everything else. The reamer for the BR brass cuts just a little deeper then the regular one.

Thanks again all of you for your replies....Dave and I seem to have the same experiences and I thank you for letting me know I'm not the only odd ball. I do believe that consistent and proper ignition is critically important in long range accuracy and is important to not be just taken for granted.
Good shooting and Best Wishes to all
