???Primer pocket residue???

I have been reloading and shooting for 8 months now. I am quite particular. I am loading for a 300 ultra mag rite now and will be reloading for a 6br next week. My question is on the primer pockets for the ultra mag, I use a Haden's primer pocket uniformer which works very well, but I have been using the uniformer to clean out the charcoal residue in the pockets in-between shooting each case. Is this necessary? Thanks

I never got along with a primer pocket brush, so I've always used the uniformer method. Just be sure you're not seeing brass come out of the hole unless it's the first time you've used the tool. I've read that leaving residue in the pocket is OK, but I never liked the idea. Primers don't seem to seat the same. JMHO

+1 for the uniformer to clean pockets. I use a Sinclair carbide uniformer, one piece, no adjustments, never wears out), and find that I get a few flakes of metal on each firing. The uniformer does a much better job than a brush, especially in the corners.

I do not use a primer pocket uniformer for anything other then uniforming primer pockets. I think for most hunting ammunition match prep methods are a wast of time and effort. Personal point of view. Lane
