Primer OK?

I have reloaded some 22-250 with 38gr of H380 and a 52gr Hornady BTHP and used a Remington 91/2 primer. My Hogdon manual just said use large rifle. After reading about pressures for different primers using max loads I am concerned. Can anyone advise me on this.
Thanks GS

The Remington 9 1/2 will generate more pressure than any standard large rifle primer. I'm not familiar with the loads for 22-250, but make sure you start at the low end of the listed charges in a reputable manual like Sierra or Hodgdon. The Remington is an effective primer for ball powders, I'm not saying don't use it, I'm just saying don't come in at the top of the charge range with a hot primer - be cautious.

I'm loading that same charge of H380 in my 22-250, however I'm using a Winchester primer. No pressure signs and speeds are very moderate in my 24' barrel.

I would load a few more, starting at 36g of powder and work up to 37.5. If you don't see any pressure signs on the new loads, shoot the 38g.
