Primer not firing ?

Now I am not sure of exact number but not all of the ones that didn't go off on first strike would go bang on the second.

Just don't need this in the back of my mind when competing in a match. I had a 0.290" group at 500 yards and the third shot didn't go bang today. Very frustrating since I was testing seating depths and that looked like it was dialing the load in. But oh well

I'm thinking weak spring or firing pin protrusion or combination. Primers look good to go

Anyone offer springs for Savages that might be stronger than the factory ones? Or just get another factory one?
Problem I have (if I'm following you correctly) 57 of 60 fired. I know that's not an answer but I find it odd. Shoulder bump on 3, primers not seated on 3......seems more likely than a firing pin working 57 times and failing on 3.

IIRC, didn't someone have this EXACT same problem a week ago on here, or am I having deja vu again?

They used to say the Russian primers had two distinct noticeable seat depths. The anvils sit higher than the cup. You'll get occasional fail to fires unless you bottom those things hard. I've seen it in my custom actions but never in a Savage. Whenever I use them now I put away the hand press and squish them in with the reloading press.
Good chance your problem is your using finesse on a Russian product when a hammer is the national tool of choice. ;D

Get a Wolff 32 lb. spring for it. Midway sells them.

I had a similar issue in my target action with Wolf primers, Haven't had one since.

My firing pin protrusion is set to .055

The only time that I experienced a similar rate of misfires was because of insufficient firing pin protrusion.
The initial setting was to spec but it was borderline. After protrusion was increased to .060'' all misfires disappeared. Oddly, the dent in the primers that misfired looked the same as the ones that fired. When the misfired rounds were tried again using more pin protrusion they didn't fire.

From my research on this subject there seemed to be a bit of confusion about how much protrusion is recommended for centerfire rifles.

Yes headspace was set using piece of scotch tape over go gauge.
Are you saying that you tried to simulate a NO GO gauge by doing this and the bolt would not close? Or did the bolt actually close on this?
