My newly built .17 Remington with a super match grade Pac-Nor 3 groove 1 in 9" twist barrel was built on an old Remington 700 ADL action. The action had a .222 Remington barrel on it and I couldn't get it to shoot to save my life, so I killed it by selling the barrel and making it a donor for this project.
After shooting some breakin rounds and working up some loads, I was concerned about the severe cratering on the Remington 7 1/2 primers. I knew my loads weren't HOT, so I figured the best way to solve the cratering problem was to have the bolt bushed. I contacted Greg Tannel and got a price and shipping address and mailed it to him on May 9. On May 15 the bolt was delivered to my doorstep!!! Six days from the day I shipped it until I received it just blows my mind.
Greg Tannel did a great job and here is a photo with the way the primers now look after firing and one of the severely cratered primers on each side of it. The bushing job and turning the firing pin down to fit the new firing pin hole sure did the trick!! Thanks Greg Tannel.
