PRIMER CHOICE 223 VARMINT LOADS

I had the same result initially with 450s and Varget. I found more neck tension or a very light Lee factory crimp resolved it for me.
I've never recorded an ES in my life, and don't own a chrono.... but Varget and 450's made tiny holes for me out the gate. Lightly prepped brass, and a std FL die.

Let see...CCI is recommending 450 and 41 for AR. Free floating firing pins and commercial reloaders. This is about bolt guns not AR's!
Local shop has regular CCI SRP and CCI 41 SRP today in stock--I like the idea of thicker cup on the 41's --will the 41's work well on other 223 long range loads? Which one would you choose for bolt guns--one varmint and one fast twist long range paper puncher Thanks guys
Bolt Guns......
I do not believe the article is relevant.

For extruded stick powders I've always run 450 with great results. Loads with ball/spherical powders I am seeing better numbers/groups with Rem 7.5, so I use both depending on powder type. If you keep your eye out 7.5 do occasionally come back, there was a run of them a few back and I managed to resupply my stock.

I don't ever recall not having a 450 go off over how many rounds I can not possibly count. However, no two rifles are the same I suppose.

Whew! OK..... so I contacted CCI--can't call so email took several days for response--tech there said 41's same mixture as 450's so a magnum primer--will not see a diff between the two just load and shoot --I understand the anvil spec is different now but tech says I will never see anything--use them he says
He said start 1g lower work back up

They will have a harder cup. Id rather have 41s than 400s. I would not be upset about having 6k of any primers. Load, shoot and enjoy.
