Primer Availability

So, been checking AmmoSeek. Literally in the last 3-4 weeks, primers just dried up. Anyone knows what gives?

They can come and go. As noted, primer availability has dropped through the floor in the last couple years, and the prices have skyrocketed. Nonetheless, depending on what type you're looking for, primers can usually be found with a little diligence. Here are a few examples:

I have a buddy who works at Sportsman Warehouse. Whenever they come in and it's rare, he sets aside a couple hundred for me. Ammo Seek retailers are gouging right now.

Nope. For several months I was seeing CCI and Federal LRPs. Got a few boxes a while back. Looking to replenish and now only seeing Ginex at a couple stores.

Not sure why they were not listed on AmmoSeek. They were selling for $129 a while back for CCI 200. Not sure what the difference is with the BR2. $169 for 1k is a lot. I have a small stock. Wait it out. I hate to get low.

I’ve been picking up large rifle primers locally, newer gunshop and they sit there for weeks at a time. 76.00 per 1k, CCI 200 mostly. Natchez gets them in, Powder Valley, Brunos too but it is worth your time to check locally. Many of those guys are not on the net, which is refreshing and the price here locally is much better than on gunbroker and most of the regular internet outlets. Just a thought

Lots of forum members here share when they find them on the reloading components thread, that’s been a huge help for powder and primers these past two years. Link below. Get email notifications, it’s slowed down a bit but primers still get listed from time to time.

With large rifle or even large pistol you're absolutely correct. Previously there were some LR and LP around but small rifle and small pistol were very hard to find. In about the last month things have sure changed. Now I can find CCI 400's and 450's but nothing in large rifle. I just received a 5,000 count case of Ginex small pistol for less than $350 including shipping and hazmat. It's weird..... LR primers are probably what the Chinese baloon was looking for.

My guess is a big SCAM!. I just added twenty 5 thousand round cases (100,000) to the cart. Smells SCAM.

I do not think the site as such is a scam, the domain name has been registered for 10 years, they have a fair amount of reviews on various sites (albeit mixed reviews at best) and they accept credit cards for payment.

They have a physical address which when searched matches their business, same with their phone number.

Whether they actually have 100,000 primers in stock is another question, perhaps their site to inventory checks are weak.

If they had small rifle primers for $350/5000 + hazmat I might have given them a try but I have no need for another 5000 spp.

Key is whether they take Venmo, Zelle, etc. If so, it's a scam.
