People seem to be forgetting their basic civics. All power falls to the states except where specifically given to the federal government. No state can over write the Bill of Rights.

The right to keep and bear is not a state's rights issue. Any law written n a state to infringe on the 2nd amendment is unconstitutional by definition.

But what we have now is a system of courts that rely on precedence more than they do the actual law. This is where the flaw lies. We should be attacking the notion that precedence overrides the Constitution. It absolutely does not. The very definition of "progressivism" is based on legal precedent. We should be attacking the very root of the first case that established precedent to where the law goes awry. Stop fighting over fringe issues and go to the very root of the law.

It’s a great step forward but unfortunately won’t do anything for individual state laws. Those battles will be fought out in the court room. But I might add, there continues to be great progress on that front. The Bruen decision really opened doors.

Maybe no! What if phase 3b(i) of the destroy the deep state plan is to force all states to only accept fed issued voter id for all elections other than municipal. And 3a(iv) is to force doge audits on the state coffers to expose corruption and waste. This will be the fastest way to flip states from blue to red, and as a result our gun rights will not be under threat in those hijacked states. We all have recently seen how he can force states and foreign countries to comply.

Open carry is the stupidest thing since ballot harvesting. The last thing I want to see is a bunch of Rambo wannabe's parading around scaring the public and thinking they're tough guys. OTOH, it does make them the 1st target so that's a plus.

I live in the most beautiful State of the Union except for the government of California. I hope the infringement filters down to rosters of handguns for sale in the state, restrictions on magazine capacity, open carry vs. concealed carry, 11% extra sales tax on guns and ammunition which amounts to close to a 20% sales tax. I hope this order cuts across state lines. Democrats have a super majority in the state, and that amounts to nothing beneficial can happen in regard to the 2A.

Unfortunately, the people that own full auto firearms will likely try everything they can to "bushwhack" this and block freedom from happening, just like firearms retailers had a big hand in getting import of surplus firearms haulted. What they did not realize is that all of those shooters, maybe many of them new shooters, needed to buy ammunition, and they would probably get it from retailers as handloading was not as common then. Ammunition and accessories were, and probably are still sold at a higher profit margin than new firearms.

I wonder what our site's Democrats think about this (yes, unbelieveably we have Democrats here).

I would be more worried about the Fudd type of firearms owners than those of us who own papered automatic weapons.

Colt, Winchester, & S&W lobbied for the prohibition on importation of surplus firearms & small concealable handguns, aka Saturday Night Specials, to protect their business from competition. These companies were not in the ammunition or accessory business, they were in the handgun & rifle manufacturing business. These companies have been run into the ground from mismanagement in the past 50 years, even with this prohibition in the GCA, the ends don't always justify the means.
