Match grade bulletmakers actually use every barrel available that way they can give info to their customers on what works and what doesnt.
Every barrel available includes all those in complete rifles.
Sierra told me they don't use every barrel available, just a few of the best.

Match grade bullet makers are mainly only concerned with barrels used in custom rifles and do not concern themselves with factory barrels. They test barrels most likely to be used in match conditions where douglas does have a following
I cant say anything about Berger or those folks but I have sent about 30 or 40 barrels this year a variety of different calibers to Sierra to do testing on something there working on.
What makes?
I don't know if this is an industry wide practice or not, but I was at the Shilen swap meet last spring and saw their process of hand lapping, air gauging, and video inspection where any faults are very visible while passing the camera down the bore. They will lap a tight spot as necessary to bring into tolerance with the air gage, and discard a barrel if the rifling is corrupted in any way.
I have to say that their new large screen video monitor for bore inspection was a huge advance and time saver. No bending over and peeking into a bore scope, it was right there in HD. Really remarkable.
I suspect Douglas is doing something similar.

Sorry do you mean what caliber variety.

We all have barrels we like and then there are others we may not know so much about.
In YOUR case your being Rude and you obviously have it "in" for both of these manufacturers, which you probably know little to Nothing About !!
Not trying to "make" you like anything, but your post is not helpful at all to the OP's original Question.
Maybe it's You & Not the Barrels - Seeing's how all you can do is categorize them with "a tent stake.....IF they were FREE."

I had a Douglas on my Garand in 308. It plain shot like nobodies bidness. I think my next barrel will be a Douglas... I have a few tent stakes of the Rock Creek variety keeping my 308, 6.5 Creedmoor and 223 very happy and competitive.
