Pre fit Savage sporter barrels

I have Savage mdl 16 in a 260 remington that I can't make shoot cold. It'll shoot 1/2" to 3/4" when the barrel warms up but cold the groups are 2-2 1/2". The rifle is in a Boyds stock with the action devcon bedded. This is a hunting rifle so it needs to shoot where it's looking when cold.
I'm tired of messing with it, instead of selling it I think rebarreling is the best option. Since I have a ton of 260 brass I don't want to change caliber just barrels.
Who makes a good accurate sporter weight barrel?

Thanks, Justin

I've got a couple Mcgowens, Shilen too and they all shoot incredible. Lots of folks swear by CBI. For a pre-fit all of those will exceed your needs without breaking the $400 barrier.

I have CBI, Shilen, McGowen and even ER Shaw, and all have shot moa or better but only the ER Shaw is sporter weight and it is a 20vt so more steel than a 260 sporter would have. I really do like a couple of heavy sporter 223AI 24" barrels by CBI. Not as heavy as a varmint barrel but a little heavier than a sporter, maybe why they shoot so good.

Thanks guys. I may be better off selling the rifle and buying something else figuring the cost of the barrel, action wrench, barrel nut wrench and the go/no go gauges.

Thanks Gary. They look promising. I wonder why their varmint barrels are 1-8" twist while the factory contour barrels are 1-9"?

That may be part of the problem, Everyone I know shooting 6.5s including myself shoots a 1-8" twist, and I am shooting everything from 123-140 grain bullets from my 6.5x47.

I bought one of those $200 factory contour barrel kits, 9 twist, and put it on an old Stevens. It will shoot 130 Berger VLD Hunting very well.
