Guys, we had a local officer killed in the line of duty this morning at a domestic disturbance. He was wearing his vest, but somehow he was shot in the side. I work closely with the officers here in Mountain View with their firearms. He was able to return fire and kill the man that took his life. Prayers for his family would be appreciated. His name was Mike Stevens,
Thanks

What a terrible loss for such a stupid reason, words can't describe how I feel about the people that serve others, especially those that put their lives on the line, my heartfelt condolences to the family.

Prayers sent.

This total disregard for the authority of the badge guarantees this will happen more and more. You see it every day in traffic stops. Suddenly everyone’s a lawyer and wants to argue with the lawman. And if they don’t want to play lawyer they want to play track star and with a gun in too many instances. My prayers aren’t just for this lawman but the lawman tomorrow and in all the tomorrows in the future.

What is always so heartbreaking about these police killings is when you find out about the officers life story and his family and compare it to the low-life, POS, mentally defective that shot the officer!

Prayers for the family. This sort of thing happening everyday now. A Brazoria County TX deputy was shot by a man and woman today. He killed both the went to the hospital. My wife is glad I retired.

After 32 years in the Baltimore City Police Department, I am lucky to have retired without serious injury. Near death experiences create a mindset in the individual and the family pays the toll. Many retired police Officers suffer PTSD and will for the rest of their lives. Suicide is often the answer for them and another tragedy occurs for the family left behind. These things never leave your mind.

As for the officer killed today, the most dangerous call for a police officer is the domestic disturbance call. You arrive to an already out of control set of emotions for both sides. You do not know who is at fault. While you are trying to gain control each person is shouting at the other and ready for war. If you observe a reason to make an arrest, you will find your self in a fight for your life from the one not being arrested.

In short, no one will thank you and everyone is ready to condemn you.

God Bless him for all he did for the troubled and less fortunate that he encountered during his life. That's the MO of being a first responder.
Just an observance from a NON first responder.
