Guys, while coming back from celebrating my 25 year olds birthday, we learned my MIL wasn't doing well. After rushing to her home we found her confused and weak, not able to stand. 911 had been called by my BIL and she was rushed to the hospital. My wife is a nurse, dropping me an the 16 year old off I asked what was her take on the situation - she called stroke through tears and that is what it was. Transferred 90 miles away to a better hospital she has undergone carotid artery surgery and the Dr. cannot accurately predict the damage or the outlook. We will see in the coming days.

Update - strength is better. Lots of confusion though. She was having occasional bouts with very mild dementia ( now we know why). After the surgery it is constant. Wife is really torn up. I have seen her about 15 minutes the last 2 days. MIL had a lung biopsy about a week ago, very possible the clot came from that. Wife got the results from that yesterday - Stage 1 cancer. Operable but not in her current condition. Have the kid getting to and from school covered, wife has no idea about care after MIL is released or if she will be able to function independently as she was. Lots of unknowns.
