Prayers for Nephew

Reflections and Blessing
This week we traveled to Madison for follow up labs, echocardiogram, and a visit with Dr. Hofmann. Jedi took the poke like a champ and was very cooperative during his echo. We are so thankful that his counts are continuing to rise. We are praising the Lord for answering our prayers this way!
Jedi continues to get stronger every day and is doing more outside with the warmer weather. He gained another two pounds! His doctor commented on how he looks like he is gaining muscle.
His white count is coming back slowly and we hope and pray it reaches normal levels by 6 months, but even if it doesn’t (which is possible because of the extra set backs he has had) we know God’s plan is going to work out just as it should “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans‬ ‭8:28‬
There’s so much peace to be found in this promise, don’t you agree?
Jedi’s echo results were somewhat as we hoped. On the good side his heart function is normal and we are so thankful. On the not as good side the thing they thought was a clot is still there. It hasn’t really changed. I say “thought was a clot” because in their experience if it was a clot then after taking the line out a clot usually resolves on its own. Dr. Hofmann is somewhat perplexed that it’s still there, and she thinks it might be something more solid. We will check in next week to see if there is anything cardiology suggests or if we leave well enough alone; it’s been stable since last August and not affecting his heart function. Please help us pray regarding this issue
As we approach the year mark from when Jedi first got sick we have done a great deal of reflecting on how quickly life circumstances can change. At this time last year we were enjoying a lot of family time at home (with all the shut downs). Little did we know that our family was being prepared for what would be an entire year of isolation for us. This journey has challenged us in ways we didn’t think possible. There were many times I was so exhausted, confused and just plain didn’t know what to pray. I found comfort here, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:26‬
The events of this last year have undoubtedly strengthened our family and our faith in the One who holds our days; for these things we are grateful!
We will continue to praise God for seeing Jedi and the rest of us through all the hardships, we will continue to thank Him for all the blessings we have received and we will continue to tell the world of the miracles we have witnessed through Jedi’s journey!
Thank you all for continuing to lift Jedi up in prayer and for continuing to encourage him with your letters and cards (I’m sorry we are not as good about writing back, but please know we get them and we love them so much!)
From the Schaller house to yours...we wish you a most blessed Easter!
“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” Matthew‬ ‭28:6‬a

Good afternoon, Jedi family! It’s been a while since we connected, and I hope this update finds you all doing well and enjoying the beauty of spring! I love springtime with all the new growth and greenery popping up; it feels so fresh and inviting.
Yesterday Patrick, Jedi and I traveled to Madison for a follow up appointment with Dr. Hofmann. On our way I sent a text asking for prayers for good results to come from Jedi’s lab work and appointment. After I checked my message I realized that autocorrect changed my “good” to “God”. Coincidence? I don’t believe in that God reminded me, in that realization, of Jedi’s prayer just before we left for our trip. He prayed for safe travel and that God would help us accept whatever results came from his appointment. He didn’t ask for his lab work to show his counts rising (like I was praying hard for), but just that God’s will be done and that He would help us accept it. This kid continues to remind me that I need to live out the “child-like” faith God calls us to in His word.
Jedi’s appointment went well overall. He did great with his blood draw and only had one question for his doctor, “How are your boys doing?” This question made Patrick and I smile a bit, because Jedi told us he is not concerned with his health. He feels like he is doing great, and that makes us so happy. He continues to have such a great attitude!
Jedi’s lab work remained stable from a month ago. I have to admit I was pretty shocked and a little disappointed (to be completely transparent) that his counts didn’t go up. Dr. Hofmann did not seem concerned and she reminded us that we need to be patient with Jedi’s recovery. It is a positive thing that his blood counts did not go down. We also received news that the mass in Jedi’s heart has been thoroughly examined by cardiology from the last echo. They determined that it is likely a remnant of a fibrin sheath and can be checked at his 1 year follow up echo. Praise the Lord that it remains stable and no additional treatment is needed
Jedi’s daily plan will remain status quo for three weeks and at that time he will have his 6 month post-BMT work up. This will include lymphoma staging scans (PET/CT), specialized blood tests (chimerism and t-cell flow cytometry), and pulmonary function tests. We ask for prayers for continued remission and that his immune function and graft continues to improve
We will continue to pray daily for Jedi’s health to improve and we’ve now added requests for “God results”….unequivocal trust in God’s good plan for Jedi’s life (“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬)
and the patience to wait on His perfect timing for those counts to go up! (“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
Thank you all for your continued support for our family; for your prayers, your cards, and your encouraging messages. We treasure them all! Blessings on your next few weeks and we’ll check in with an update after May 19!

Thanks Dianna for the up date. The extended amount of time between reports, means to me, improvement. Love the picture of Jedi climbing on the rock outside. I believe God has great plans for Jedi. I do a lot of praying for my grand daughters and Jedi is also a part of those prayers. Will continue to pray and trust the Lord for His perfect out come.
