I am finally getting the spinal cord surgery done! It has been do this, wait 30 days, see the Surgeon. Do this MRI, wait 30 days, see the Surgeon. This Dr, since December. Today she tells me get a check up by your Cardiologist, I get the report you are safe to cut open, we do the surgery in two weeks from that date. Insert dancing Emoji here, and Thank God! I fell February 1st of 2022, and we have have had everything except make a VooDoo Doll and stick pins in my back.
With any luck, I will get in some late season Rockchuck and Coyote hunting.

Sending prayers that all goes as planned, that you recover without any issues and that God gives you 100% healing for a long, healthy and normal life.

Thank you all. It is a scary thing, having spent your life (since about age 8) shooting and some fishing; to falling at age 72 and be facing the fact that your shooting career may be over.
When this Dr looks you in the eye, and says "I can fix you, 99% guaranteed!...". It is like God has given you your life back. All I need now, other than continued prayers, is my Cardiologist and Primary Care Provider to say I am healthy enough. Two weeks from the day the VA sends the paperwork back, I will be in surgery.

Ah, the VA:rolleyes:, they don't much get in a hurry. May God grant that the surgeons hands be blessed with skill and absolute confidence.

That's great they will repair you so you can have many more years doing what you love to do. We'll be praying for a great outcome.

Having gone through six of these lower spinal operations, (S1-L5) and regained the ability to keep walking for over another twenty years now, I can say that you won't wake up ready to go dancing the next day.

The fact that your Doctor is not in a hurry is a good thing, take your time and do as your are instructed. That was the hardest thing for me to do, ... do it anyway. Recovery from this takes time and exercise at the right time. Don't rush it and don't be lazy about it.

You have just spent a lot of money and asked someone to put you back together so you can do the things that are most important to you. As you exercise your way to health you will at some point find that you can do one more rep of exercise than you did the day before, do it. Yes it will hurt like hell, do it anyway.

One of the biggest pitfalls here is the pain med's, if the doctor say's take x amount of this, see if you can take a half of one instead. Yes it will hurt, so what? Focus on your goal, not the present problem, this is always the end goal and how you win.

Which do you want, for it to hurt less or for you to be able to go back outside and do the things you did before sooner? Everybody here is in your corner and waiting to hear the good news that your ok. Good luck!
