Saw a lot of these both at presentation and for follow ups post surgical. The base of the fifth metatarsal is a tough area for healing due to the limited blood supply to that area....similar to the navicular bone in the wrist. When the base of the fifth is displaced laterally, most repairs are either by pinning or screwing, depending on the stability of the other structures. Hopefully that approach can be utilized for you.
